What's New in MotiveWave 2.3
(Released December 19, 2012)
Below is information on the major features and enhancements included in MotiveWave's version 2.3 (since the last major release of version 2.2). Please visit the MotiveWave download page for full Release Notes on each release including minor releases and to download the latest version of MotiveWave.
Trading Enhancements
- Simulated Account - This update includes the ability to have a simulated or paper trading account added to an existing broker workspace or a data service workspace. You can access this feature from the preferences panel (General -> Simulated Account tab)
- Stop Loss/Profit Target - The order ticket dialog has been enhanced to make it easier to attach a stop loss and/or profit target for an entry order (note: not applicable to FOREX.com, use Composite Order instead)
- DOM Totals - Totals are now (optionally) displayed at the bottom of the DOM table to show totals bid/ask sizes
- Replay Mode Enhancements - Several issues were fixed with Replay Mode. Performance of loading replay data has been improved by only loading a few days of replay ticks at a time (instead of all at once).
Chart Enhancements
- Component Properties - Properties Dialogs have been created for all components for easy formatting/editing of the component. To access these dialogs, double click on a component (such as a Trend Line) or right click and choose "Properties".
- Regression Channel - Confidence intervals added: 50%, 68.3%, 80%, 90%, 95%, 99%, 99.5%, 99.7%
- Link Templates Option - This new option (in the Preferences Panel: Chart> Templates tab) allows you to disable the linking of templates when charts are linked
- Fibonacci Enhancements:
- Negative Fibonacci Numbers - Negative values for Fibonacci numbers are now allowed for ratio components
- Elliott Wave Enhancements:
- Elliott Wave Show Info - Options are now available in the Preferences Dialog (Configure -> Preferences -> 'Elliott Wave' tab) to choose information that is shown as part of the 'Show Info' feature on the wave points: Bars, Pips, Ratio
- Auto Wave - A new option on the Auto Wave feature allows you to specify a date for starting the analysis. This will allow for more consistent results when executing the auto wave multiple times.

- Price Channel - Added Shift option
- Moving Average Cross - an optional fill is now available to fill the area when the fast MA crosses above or below the slow MA
- Moving Average Alerts - Alerts are now available on the Moving Average Studies (EMA, SMA WMA etc) when the closing price crosses above or below the moving average line
- Moving Average Method choice has been added to the following studies:
- ATR Channel
- Bollinger Bands®
- Line Arrow Markers - A new option 'Line Arrow' is available for display of markers as part of a study
Preferences
- Simulated Mode (Watermark) - This option has been moved from being part of the workspace to part of the Preferences (See General Tab).
Brokers
- New Broker Added – CQG - CQG is now a supported Broker/Data service. There are 3 connector types:
- CQG Trader API - Allows you to connect to CQG using their GUI-less Trader API
- CQG Trader - Connects using the CQG Trader application
- CQG Integrated Client - Connects using the CQG Integrated Client application
- New Broker Added - Deep Discount Trading - This new broker has been added (see workspace service list drop down to select it)
- Interactive Brokers - extended data beyond 1 year can now be pulled from Google for certain currency pairs (depending on data availability from Google)
- Ditto Trade - The ability to view and trade options has been added
- TD-Ameritrade - Several fixes to the TD-Ameritrade support have been included for Think-Or-Swim accounts
Data Service Providers
- Google/Yahoo - Support for Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX). Note: historical data is pulled from Yahoo and only Daily Bars are available
